Curious to learn about psychology behind?
Your teams and team members can be described by their dominant psychological state: reactive, passive or active.
Think about it in this way: every time your employees are reactive or passive, at best, they don’t contribute or at worst they sabotage progress. However, when they are psychologically active, they are more attentive, proactive and effective.
For each mental state, we have a metaphor.
Monkey mind
Reactive minds create reactive cultures.
Please now, imagine a crazy monkey, jumping around from branch to branch, never seeming to be in control. That’s how our minds are sometimes. We call this monkey-mind as in “monkey feels, monkey does”. Monkeys impulsive and thus, often in conflict.
This monkey mind happens because we don’t process the situation or the person thoroughly. It happens because we don’t acknowledge the other side fully. We just impulsively react.
That’s why it’s important to recognize the monkey and consciously control it.
Remember, monkeys didn’t build the human culture, so neither can we in the monkey-mind state build a corporate one. Quite the opposite, in reactive psychological state, we can only destroy what was previously built.
Oak mind
Passive minds keeps culture passive.
Trees also didn’t build our culture, right?
Trees, like oak, may be good for hugging or to be put in a corner of a room, but they are not great as colleagues. You wouldn’t want them in your project team.
In our case, a oak mind is a metaphor for a passive mind, a mind which is not reactive but it is not proactive either. It is a psychological state that doesn’t create conflict — which is good — but it it doesn’t create value either — which is bad.
In a passive culture, problems creep in and surround you until any progress is suffocated and opportunities just pass by you.
Not great, right?
Buddha mind
Active minds create active cultures.
Now imagine Buddha, fully present, saying something wise like “If you light a lamp for someone else, it will also brighten your path.”
Cool, right?
That Buddha-mind is characterized by a high level of engagement and attentiveness that you can bring to conversation either through listening, writing or presenting.
If in your culture more people are in the active psychological state, they are more probable to show empathy, say or write the right words, effective words, that result in creating rather than destroying value.
People, at the peak of their psychological activity did create everything that we, in our civilization, call “culture”. And so can we inside our organization.
Curious to learn about psychology behind?
Our Active Psychology Program consists of three workshops – Active Listening, Active Writing, and Active Presenting. All workshops are based on fundamentals of psychology, persuasion, copywriting, design and storytelling as well as our own experiences in 500+ projects and over 50 experiments.
In every workshop, we offer inspiration and instructions to empower individuals to become better communicators. From our experience, that is the best bet to make any culture empathic and effective.
And now, a brief overview of each workshop.
ACTIVE LISTENIONG
Active listening is the most effective agent for individual personality change and group development. — Carl Rogers, founder of person-centered therapy
People who learn how to listen actively say it was a game-changer in their personal and professional lives.
Why?
Because if you know how to listen actively, you can confront your boss without raising tensions, you can comfort your team members without hiding the truth, you can motivate others to become the best version of themselves — or just become more knowledgeable and influential.
If you want these kinds of powers for yourself and your team, this workshop is for you.
Active Listening Workshop is based on the fundamentals of counseling psychology, our counseling experience as well as culture change programs we did in our international consultancy work (20+ countries).
After this workshop, you will not listen carefully, which is the wrong way to do it, but you will start to listen actively.
ACTIVE WRITING
"Writing is the painting of the voice." — Voltaire
1 GB of memory or 1.000 songs in your pocket — which one paints a more colorful picture?
If you felt the power of the second one, then you intuitively know writing pure facts is not the way to go — describing pictures is.
And the good news? It’s a learnable skill most of us can become good at.
By learning active writing, you can move whomever you are writing to. You’ll improve team collaboration and job performance, convert more people with an ad, and definitely stand out from your peers.
Now imagine a culture in which everyone has this skill?
Active Writing Workshop offers inspiration and instructions for crafting clear, concise, and compelling written messages that engage and persuade the audience.
This workshop is based on the fundamentals of text psychology, our copywriting experience as well as copywriting experiments we did in over 500 projects in more than 20 countries.
With an active listening workshop your team will converse better. After active writing workshop, they’ll be able to paint better pictures using just their words. And with the next one, you will learn visual storytelling.
ACTIVE PRESENTING
“Good presentation skills can take you from being a good employee to being a great one.” — Sheryl Sandberg
Not only that 37% of time menagers spend on meetings and presentations but almost all important business discussions are happening in front of a presentation and most of the business decisions, project statuses, product launches, or new strategic directions are often communicated through presentations.
Not everyone is Steve Jobs but everyone can benefit from better visual storytelling.
So, whether you’re leading a team meeting or delivering a keynote speech, presenting (or visual storytelling) is a critical skill for anyone looking to advance their project, career or culture.
In Active Presenting Workshop, we offer practical techniques for delivering effective and engaging presentations that captivate and inspire your audience. By learning how to present more actively, you can improve your public speaking skills, increase your confidence, and position yourself as a leader in your field.
This workshop is based on the fundamentals of storytelling, persuasion psychology as well as stage experiments we did in over 200 presentations for all audiences.
